LOSS OF GREEN SPACE
- Loss of all usable green spaces in the Square
- Nowhere for older children to play
- No access to nature for the elderly and those with disabilities
- Loss of outdoor shade during summer
- Increased carbon footprint by cutting down mature trees
HEALTH
- Increase risk of childhood obesity through lack of playspace
- Mental health impact due to lack of open, green space
- Overcrowding: number of residents to increase by 50 per cent
- Loss of community
- Loss of natural light
- Reduced care for residents with physical and mental health illnesses
- Increased traffic leading to more pollution and less safety for residents on foot
PRIVACY/SAFETY
- Neighbours overlooking and being overlooked, including directly into bedroom windows
- New entrance directly onto the main road = safety concern for children
- Safeguarding issues with proposed playground overlooked and in very close proximity to living quarters
QUALITY OF LIFE
- Parking spaces taking away grass and shrubbery and backing directly onto people’s bedrooms and living rooms at ground floor level
- Increased noise from proposed clubroom squeezed between two blocks
- Not enough waste disposal – already a lack and increasing the population by over 100 residents will make the problem far worse
- Issues with drainage – the current system is already overstretched
- Loss of much-needed storage space
- New bins directly next to front gardens will make gardens unusable
